Reason for joining LTA: Gamma Alpha has a very special place in my heart! It shaped my undergraduate experience in a way that no other organization could have. I fell in love with the chapter as an interest my first year at the University. The more I learned about the sisterhood and the chapter, the more eager I was to join. I knew LTA was a special sisterhood, a true sisterhood, a lifetime sisterhood that respects its values of Unity, Love and Respect.

Reason for Joining LTA: Growing up as the only girl in my family, I always knew I wanted to join a sorority in order to experience the special bond that sisterhood brings. Often people ask me do I feel awkward being a non-latina in a latin sorority. NOT IN THE LEAST!! Although founded on a latin tradition, Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. is an organization that embraces women of all ethnic backgrounds ("Latin by tradition, not by definition!!"). I had seen a flyer around Grounds and I decided to go to an LTA social at the end of my first year. The ladies in the chapter made me feel so welcome and at home, and guess what, my ethnicity didn't matter!! It only took one social for me to be hooked!! The rest is history!

Quote: To repeat what others have said, requires education; to challenge it, requires brains (Mary Poole, 1938).
Reason for Joining: LTA offered me a chance at something I NEVER dreamed (or wanted) to be a part of… a sorority. I quickly realized that LTA was not just a sorority but a life changing organization for me. I found it difficult to make friends at UVA because most people were not like me. I grew up in a diverse environment and was not used to the Black/White rigidness of UVA. LTA gave me a comfort zone, as well as an unforgettable sisterhood that will last a lifetime.

Reason for joining LTA: I received an e-mail over the list serve that got my attention so I attended a social. Something about the organization attracted me so I kept attending all of then events. While I attended the events I fell in love with the organization and felt that it could offer me what I felt I was missing in my UVA experience. How the universal woman was embraced and the principles of Unity, Love and Respect were live made me want to be apart of this sorority. This was a group where I could be myself and where I felt welcomed for who I was. The sisters had no clue who I was but opened their arms and hearts to me.
